This fantastic Series 3 Jaguar XKE came to Gassman Automotive for some finishing. We have been challenged with rebuilding the engine, detailing the engine compartment to house the beautifully rebuilt engine, and upgrade the air conditioning.
August 11, 2014:
The car is completed. It runs and drives fantastically, the A/C works, and the radio is great for the owners. This was a challenging project, to say the least, to put the engine back together after receiving it all in boxes. The owners are taking the car home this week, potentially painting the car at a later date.
July 30, 2014:
The a/c system was charged today, and now Chris and Dave are wiring and installing the radio and speaker system.
July 28, 2014:
The new stainless steel exhaust system showed up late last week and is being installed on the car today.
July 18, 2014:
In preparation of a test drive today, Mike went to sit in the car and discovered there was a major break in the mechanism of the seat. Mike then dis-assembled the seat and mechanism, welded the mechanism (which is unavailable for purchase now), and re-assembled the seat to install back into the car.
July 17, 2014:
Mike, Dave, David, Kenny, and Chris started the engine for the first time today. With the exception of one stuck carb, the engine ran like a champ!
July 16, 2014:
A smoke test was performed on the vacuum system to check for leaks. Again, no leaks as of yet.
July 15, 2014:
Engine ancillaries are almost completely installed, including the radiator. Mike filled the cooling system with water and detected no leaks as of yet.
July 3, 2014:
The engine has been installed in the car! The ancillaries, hoses, wires, etc. need to be re-attached, and several fabricated parts are to be made as well.
July 2, 2014:
All of the engine ancillaries are installed, and we are hoping to install the engine and trans into the car today.
June 30, 2014:
The engine ancillaries have been detailed and cleaned, and are being installed on the engine today.
June 18, 2014:
The engine compartment has been detailed and painted and looks amazing to house the newly rebuilt engine as well.
June 10, 2014:
The dis-assembly of the engine compartment for detailing has begun.
