1967 Mercedes 230SL

Mercedes has been sold. Please visit Cars for Sale to view the rest of our available inventory.

The car we are offering was sold new in Massachusetts, and within 5 months was moved to California, where it spent the majority of its life. This car has never had any rust or any accident damage. The shut lines on the car are some of the best I have ever seen. One exterior respray done somewhere around 20 years ago, but the car has remained inside. The complete interior was new with proper MB Tex seats, square weave carpets, and all panels were not only replaced, but installed properly and look factory new. The dash has not been replaced, and is in the exact same condition as the parts that have been replaced. All gauges, switches, and electrics on the entire car work exactly as they should. Small indicators of how good this car is, is the fact the plastic heat and defrost switches and knobs are all original, not cracked or broken. The car has a black cloth soft top that is very nice, and a factory hard top which looks virtually new. Opening the doors is like opening a vault. They click shut with the least amount of effort. I don’t know of a vehicle that has wind up windows which work as wonderfully as these. Extremely comfortable car and it is easy to drive, the 230SL automatic utilized a fluid driven system instead of a torque converter, which allows for very positive shifts and if you choose to manually shift it, is very precise and sporty. This car comes with the original rear end assembly, which is a drum brake unit and the gear ratio made the engine rev at almost 4000 rmps at 65 mph. This car has had a 1972 4.5 liter Mercedes rear end assembly bolted in (no modifications necessary) which not only brought the revs to 2600 at 60mph, but also provided four wheel disc brakes. We have changed all fluids, replaced calipers and master cylinder and hoses, installed new tires and a steering idler assembly, as well as a complete tune and service on the motor. This car is an absolute joy to drive, turns many heads and needs nothing!! Our final improvement on the car was to add a bluetooth unit to the Blaupunkt stereo, which allows you to jump in with your phone and turn music streaming on, and take off into the sunset. While we are a dealer, VA #0727, of classic automobiles and have been for many, many years, this car was not purchased for the idea of resale. This is the owner’s personal car, and anything needed to make it perfect has been done. A fantastic car, priced in the real world not auction insanity prices! You will absolutely love it!
