Here you go, guys. A fully-loaded inca-yellow TR6 for reasonable money.
This car just completed a major service done here at Gassman Automotive. While the car has always run very well, it was leaking oil from the transmission overdrive and engine. We have just replaced the timing cover seal and gasket, added a speedi-sleeve to the front hub, replaced the timing chain and tensioner, removed and resealed the front engine plate, removed and resealed the oil pan, as well as replacing the rear main seal. Flywheel was just turned and a new, upgraded, Sachs four-piece clutch kit was installed. The overdrive was removed from the transmission and completely disassembled, cleaned, checked, and resealed, as well as the entire gearbox disassembled. Any items with wear replaced, and the entire unit was resealed. The two were mated together, bench tested, and filled with fluid, and have just been reinstalled in the car with new transmission mounts.
We have just gone for a test drive in the car, and the car runs very well, with excellent oil pressure. There are no bad noises in the motor, the transmission shifts beautifully, and on an 86 degree day, the temperature remained below half. The clutch is much easier than the Laycock clutch that was in it, and it is extremely smooth. There have been multiple items restored recently on the car and it has a very nice interior. Everything is very proper. When I say fully-loaded, the car has j-type overdrive in third and fourth gear, a factory hardtop in very nice condition, new tonneau cover, and new boot cover for the new soft top.
Excellent exterior and paint. Engine compartment is very clean, but the yellow paint in the engine bay appears to have been brushed rather than sprayed. Incredibly solid chassis with no rust and no obvious signs of repair. Possibly the oil leaks over the years have saved the rear trailing arms, as they are some of the nicest that we have ever seen. Brake booster and brakes work very nicely and stop the car in a straight direction. All lights, horns, turn signals, etc. work as they should. Car has been upgraded with a Sony AM/FM CD stereo. Several years ago (?) the motor was replaced and the replacement motor is an early '71-'72 (?) high-compression engine with virtually no power-robbing emission control. The factory dual exhaust and muffler create that nice tone that TR6's are known for without being overwhelming. All gaps on the car are very good and the body is very straight. It presents excellent and would make an exceptional driver for anyone looking for an honest TR6. A considerable amount of receipts come with the car as well as the current bill from us that shows a breakdown of money just spent.
