1997 Toyota FJ80 Land Cruiser
Arguably, the last of the great Land Cruisers. 1997 was the last year for he 4.5L fuel-injected 4-valve per cyclinder industrial 6-cylinder. These motors have been proven by the UN and almost every country in the world to be more than capable of 500,000 miles. I purchased this vehicle from the
original owner who bought it and used it in California. He is a pilot and has the pilot service mentality. That means you repair or replace before
there is a problem. On the last major service of this car, he had the head removed and completely rebuilt as a matter of time, not because of a pr
oblem. He had the entire air conditioning system upgraded as well as all four wheel drive actuators and vacuum switches replaced, new brakes and ti
res, and complete new leather covers for all the interior. The truck is absolutely rust free and still wearing its original paint with the exceptio
n of the hood which had a branch dent it and was resprayed. The condition overall of this vehicle could only be described as excellent. As most peo
ple know, Toyota Land Cruisers were very prone to rust and that is why a California truck is so desirable. When he moved to Virginia he had the bot
tom of the truck cleaned and sprayed with a protective coating. He has never had it in salt or snow and I have not either. This is the most solid, sorted FJ out there anywhere. The air conditioning is ice cold and there are no leaks, no warning lights, and nothing on the truck that does not wo
rk as it should. The oil has been changed every 2500 miles with Mobil 1 Synthetic. The transmission and transfer case work perfectly. The tires are
still as new.
These are highly desirable vehicles because of their luxury and sport utility capabilities. Because they have locking differentials and manual low-
range these trucks can go virtually anywhere. The truck feels extremely stable at 80 MPH on the interstate and has power everything, a very nice st
ereo, heated seats, leather interior, a full set of custom floor mats including a WeatherTech rear cargo mat, the carpets are perfect, it has the 7-passenger jump seats in the rear, a trailer hitch, roof rack, and every other amenity you would expect on a luxury automobile, including 6-way power seats, cruise control, and full locking differentials, front and rear.
I looked for a long time for a truck like this and have thoroughly enjoyed it. And I am now very pleased to offer it to the next caretaker. The tru
ck comes with all service records prior to my ownership and is certain to please the most discriminating buyer.
